Jaya Bhardwaj is a post graduate in English and Mass Communications. She had done her graduation in English Literature and had been a prolific writer. She started her career as the Principal of the Col. VR Mohan DAV Public School, Dera Bassi and was shifted in 2001 to DAV Public Senior Secondary School, Mohali. She had constructed the new building of the school and her school made its mark as the IT icon of its parent body the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.
She had launched two major public welfare oriented projects during her stint as the Principal and had always been of the opinion that besides her duties as head of an institution she should also perform her role towards social and environmental causes. She was honoured for her services in the field of environment and education by the Punjab Government on the Republic Day of 2000. She raised this school from the scratch and by now Mohali School is elevated to the level of senior secondary and had scored many high position in the Class X and XII results of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. She was also bestowed upon prestigious Mahatna Hansraj award by the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.
She had founded Shradha project under which students from the economically weaker sections were not only given free education but books and are provided with books and stationery totally free of cost. Another project run by her was Saplings by which she had ensured that students studying in her institutions not play their active role in maintaining greenery in their surroundings but are also given saplings to be planted in their neighbourhood to save environment.
